ON A PLOD EVENT PARTICIPATION WAIVER AND LIABILITY RELEASE

By registering for and participating in any event organised by On A Plod Ltd (“On A Plod”, “the Event Organiser”), I confirm that I have read, understood, and agreed to the following terms.

Participation in the event is entirely voluntary, and by participating I acknowledge and accept the risks associated with endurance running events conducted in public spaces.

1. ASSUMPTION OF RISK

I acknowledge that participation in an On A Plod event involves inherent risks, including but not limited to:

  • Physical injury
  • Illness
  • Dehydration
  • Heat exhaustion or heat stroke
  • Cardiac events
  • Trips, slips or falls
  • Collision with other participants
  • Interaction with vehicles, cyclists, pedestrians, animals, or members of the public
  • Hazards associated with public roads, pavements, trails, parks, and uneven surfaces

I understand that the event may take place in public spaces that are not closed to traffic, and that vehicles, bicycles, and other members of the public may be present along the route.

I voluntarily accept and fully assume all risks associated with participation, whether known or unknown, foreseeable or unforeseeable.

2. ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION

I understand that alcohol may be available at or during the event.

If I choose to consume alcohol before, during, or after the event, I acknowledge and accept that:

  • I am solely responsible for my decision to consume alcohol.
  • I will do so responsibly.
  • I will not participate if I am impaired or unable to run safely.
  • The organisers are not responsible for any injury, illness, accident, or damage resulting from alcohol consumption.

I understand that running while consuming alcohol may increase the risk of injury, and I accept full responsibility for that decision.

3. HEALTH AND FITNESS

I confirm that:

  • I am physically fit and medically able to participate in endurance running activities.
  • I do not suffer from any medical condition that would make participation unsafe.
  • I have consulted a medical professional if necessary regarding my participation.

I understand that the organisers do not provide medical screening and rely on my confirmation of fitness to participate.

4. RESPONSIBILITY IN PUBLIC SPACES

I acknowledge that the event takes place in shared public environments, and I agree to:

  • Remain aware of my surroundings at all times.
  • Give way to vehicles, cyclists, pedestrians, and other members of the public where necessary.
  • Follow all local laws, road rules, and public safety regulations.
  • Act responsibly and safely when crossing roads or interacting with traffic.

I accept full responsibility for my conduct while participating in the event.

5. COMPLIANCE WITH EVENT RULES AND STAFF

I agree to follow all event rules, safety instructions, and guidance provided by:

  • Event organisers
  • Marshals
  • Staff
  • Volunteers
  • Safety personnel

If at any time I am instructed to slow down, stop running, stop drinking, or leave the course, I agree to comply immediately.

Failure to follow instructions may result in removal from the event without refund.

6. PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY

I accept full responsibility for:

  • My actions
  • My safety
  • My physical condition
  • Any damage I cause to property
  • Any injury or harm caused to other participants or members of the public

7. RELEASE OF LIABILITY

To the fullest extent permitted by law, I hereby release, waive, and discharge On A Plod Ltd, its directors, employees, staff, contractors, volunteers, sponsors, partners, venues, and affiliates from any and all liability, claims, demands, losses, damages, or causes of action.

8. INDEMNIFICATION

I agree to indemnify and hold harmless On A Plod Ltd and its associated parties from any claims, liabilities, damages, or legal costs arising from my participation in the event.

9. MEDIA CONSENT

I grant On A Plod Ltd permission to use photographs, video footage, or recordings of me taken during the event for promotional, marketing, or media purposes without compensation.

10. EVENT REMOVAL RIGHTS

The organisers reserve the right to remove any participant from the event if they:

  • Pose a safety risk to themselves or others
  • Are intoxicated or behaving irresponsibly
  • Fail to follow instructions from staff or marshals
  • Breach event rules

11. AGE REQUIREMENT

I confirm that I am 18 years of age or older.

12. LEGAL ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

  • I have read and fully understand this waiver.
  • I understand that I am giving up certain legal rights.
  • I agree voluntarily and without coercion.
